RANSOMED DREAMS by Amy Wallace

I sometimes feel like I’m repeating myself when I say how good this author is or how good that one is.  I often sound like a cheerleader, cheering along the novels with the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance.  That being said, I can’t help but be excited about Amy Wallace’s RANSOMED DREAMS.  I would put her in the category with Karen Kingsbury and Robin Hatcher.  She is a great writer and it’s hard to believe that this is her first novel.

RANSOMED DREAMS is about a mom, Gracie Lang, who lost her family in a hit-and-run accident.  FBI agent, Steven Kessler, works to rescue other people’s children.  Then a plot to kidnap a British ambassador’s daughter brings Gracie and Steven together.

I read the first chapter before going to bed one night and I was so haunted by what happened that I had to read something else before going to sleep.  I didn’t want to dream about something happening to my own children.  I could feel the sense of pain Mrs. Wallace wrote with as she threw herself into the role of Gracie Lang.  How horrible to have your entire life turned upside down in the blink of an eye.  But God’s grace is sufficient to see us through and the journey Gracie and Steven take is a journey we all make.  Every Christian must come to terms with their pasts, forgive themselves as well as others, and live the life God has called them to live.  Because the theme is so rich and the writing well done, this is a book that will stand the test of time and launch and excellent career for Mrs. Wallace.

Talking about how RANSOMED DREAMS began, Wallace says, “After September 11, 2001 I felt the overwhelming urge to write down the stories bouncing around my brain. Out of that national tragedy came a literal dream that wouldn’t let go. It included FBI characters and a deep desire to give tribute to the agents who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to see our country both protected and healed. The story I wrote in about six weeks also required me to walk through my greatest fear, that of losing my precious children. These two different plot lines converged to create a story entitled Ransomed Dreams.”

One final word from Amy Wallace:  “Forgiveness is in no way an easy process. But my prayer for readers of Ransomed Dreams is that they will see the healing power of forgiveness played out in the pages of the book in a way that they can transfer to their own walk with the Lord.”

Sean,

The words in your review about God's grace and your praise for RD (especially from a CAT to a CARD) were the ones I hoped for as I sent this book baby out into the world. Thank you. Thank you for reading through the hard beginning and seeing God's redemptive hand in the story.

Please let your wife know how much I appreciate both of you reading RD and for your high praise. It's an honor read your review and to praise God for what He has done.
